A Ministry of Life Transformation Through: Pastoral Counseling and Psychotherapy
The pastoral counseling and the pastoral psychotherapy provided by Still Waters is:
theologically informed: we integrate the religious and philosophical beliefs of each of our clients into all aspects of the counseling process
spiritually sensitive: we respect and encourage the faith traditions and spiritual practices of all clients
ethically sound: we maintain the highest standards of accountability and professional conduct
clinically competent: we draw from years of professional experience and a wide body of scientific knowledge
We often function as an extension of the ministry provided by various faith communities. Their clergy leaders often refer members to us.
Pastoral Counseling
Pastoral counseling usually deals with life’s difficult situations:
Recent or unexpected changes in your life
Problems in your relationships
Feelings of loss, sadness, grief, emptiness, or meaninglessness
Problems with self-doubt, worry, anxiety, loneliness, or isolation
Conflicts between the “shoulds” and “wants” of life
Religious or spiritual concerns
Distress related to living an alternative life style
Pastoral Psychotherapy
Pastoral psychotherapy engages the deeper emotional wounds left by trauma or developmental deficits and is usually of longer duration. This form of therapy makes use of sound psychotherapeutic methods of treatment to produce life-long change.
Both pastoral counseling and pastoral psychotherapy are usually conducted in face-to-face sessions at the Still Waters office in New Lenox, IL. Sessions typically last fifty minutes and are scheduled once a week. Sometimes circumstances require different arrangements. The standard fee is $125 per session, though a sliding fee scale may be applied. Insurance may cover a portion of the cost. Contact Still Waters to make an initial appointment, or to receive additional information.
