About Still Waters

Still Waters Counseling Ministries was developed to bring you the extraordinary benefits of pastoral counseling, pastoral psychotherapy, co-active life coaching, spiritual exploration, and professional consultation. Our services are tailored for clergy, professional religious workers, lay ministers, and people of all faiths and traditions. Clients are invited to openly explore, strengthen, and utilize their faith perspectives and values to promote emotional and spiritual healing, to reach their highest life goals, and to improve ministerial skills.

Rev. Emily S. Haight, Ph.D., founder of Still Waters, has spent over thirty years creating pastoral and therapeutic relationships with hundreds of people. She has served as a parish pastor, a seminary professor, a pastoral counselor and psychotherapist, a retreat leader, and a life coach. She explores various forms of both Christian and non-Christian spirituality to more fully understand the depth of human struggles and the soul’s need for continuing growth and fulfillment.

Rev. Haight has been ordained in the United Methodist Church since 1972 and is a nationally known Diplomate (supervisor and teacher) in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. She has led numerous spiritual growth groups and retreats, as well as wilderness canoe camps in the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota. In addition to her academic degrees, she is also a licensed clinical psychologist. She has been married for over 30 years to a local United Methodist Pastor and is the mother of two grown sons. She holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts and Psychology (with honors) from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.Div. degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL, and a Ph.D. in Religion (Pastoral Psychology and Counseling) from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

Currently, Dr. Haight is a Medicare provider, and a Preferred Provider for Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Other insurance is accepted on a case-by-case basis.
